Honesty

June 21st, 2010

I wrote Honesty in 2001 or 2002 in my bedroom at my parents house. I was trying to write something more simple guitar wise and focus more on lyrics. In retrospect I believe in the lyrics I am talking to myself, at that point in my life I had written a number of songs most of witch were… not very hopeful. It may be hard to believe but I was trying to write a comforting song about understanding or some shit (to be honest it’s hard to remember… hu… honest) but I was definitely pissed about some things in my life, some things never change.

In 2006 I think, Rachel and I were driving to Oakland for a show I was playing at a bar that I don’t remember the name of. I had just started using Propellerheads Reason and applying it in a live setting. I finished the drum programing on the way there and played Honesty that night. The show went well… people cried.

Vic and I were getting ready to lay down the guitar tracks at Sac Sonic Works. As I was walking into the isolation room I was playing and it occurred to me it might be cool to leave the door open and capture the sound of the guitar moving closer to the mic. That is the beginning of the song. Other than that I ran the Synth and string signals  though a auto filter in Ablton Live and manually automated the frequency in the bridgeish part. I think thats all the cool stuff going on there so…

Please excuse my illiterate ass. Never forget that Odame sucks.

Peace

O.

P.S. Headphones with a sub is where its at.
